So I’ve been going through Financial Peace, and even though I have been having a hard time just getting through the first basic steps, I have been getting better at it, and it has been a struggle. With Christmas coming up, however, it had begun to get me a little worried, with all the gifts and such, and my budget not looking to healthy, so I began to think of ways to work around this. One way was simply to tell everyone that this year they would be getting nothing from me. I considered it, but I enjoy giving people presents so much that I knew I couldn’t do that. Another would be only to buy gifts for my family, but that’s usually 90% of the gifts I give anyway. So I was left with a dilemma, and I began to look around. As many people know, I have a lot of crap. Crap that I don’t need. No, I didn’t decide to give away my crap as gifts, I don’t think anyone in my family would want a box of yu-gi-oh cards. What I did decide is to use some of the crap, plus other very inexpensive items to make Christmas gifts. That’s right, I’ve decided to have a homemade Christmas this year. Of course I may still buy some small things, but the majority of the gifts I’m planning on giving this year will be made personally by me. That just means if you expect to get a gift from me, you can expect for it to be described in any of the following ways: Goofy, crappy, useful, extremely useful, cute, amazing, terrific, silly, unique, and of course, phillipesque!
After Christmas I may even post some of the gift ideas I found or came up with to give everyone else ideas for next year. By the way, I bet these would work well for birthdays too!
