So this morning I did something I didn’t think I would be able to do. I woke up BEFORE 6:00 a.m. That in itself is a big feat for me. That’s not where it stopped though. I got out of bed, got a shower and left the house by 5:50 in order to go to a men’s bible study at church that I had been wanting to go to. Normally I do good to wake up and get to work by 8:00, so you bet getting up that early is a big deal for me. It was well worth it though. I found out last night that Eddie Gran, former assistant coach at Auburn, was going to be speaking, and I was already a little excited to hear him, but that wasn’t what really made this morning special. It wasn’t the man who spoke, it was the words that God spoke through him. I think the entire morning could be summed up for me very easily by a statement Rusty (the pastor) made after Eddie was finished.
“My life is not about me, it’s about what God wants to do through me.”
I wrote yesterday about changes I want to make in 2009, but ultimately if everything on my list from yesterday falls through, this is one that I want to hold on to. I want to go from making my life about me, to making my life about God, and letting him work through me. How awesome would that be to simply wake up, and let God do the rest? So, I’m going to give everything I have, and let God use it how he seems fit. All my talents, abilites, time, money, and even my problems are going to be His. To top it off, Rusty even quoted a verse that fits right in, and it’s that verse that I used as a title for this post.
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” – Proverbs 19:21
