Yes, I had a revelation, and yes it is kind of related to Wolverine. It does not, however, have anything to do with the movie, as I have not even seen it, and probably won’t see it till it comes out on DVD. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance I may not be watching hardly any movies in the theater any time soon. That’s definitely off topic here though, so now back to my revelation.
I was driving back to work from lunch, just a few minutes ago actually, and I was once again thinking about what is it that I really do better than anything else. What is my one talent, or one ability that really makes me stand out. I mean, I can sing decently, I’ve played musical instruments, I’m into photography, videography and now graphic design, I like to read, write (never thought I would say that), and even draw. I can make things, fix things, and even find things (thanks geocaching!). I have so many things that I can do, that I don’t really know which one of those sets me apart. That’s when it hit me light a lightning bolt straight from the cloudy sky above me. It’s none of those. The one ability I have that really sets me apart isn’t any of those things, or even the ones I forgot to list. I have the ability to learn quickly and learn well. Wow. That’s where Wolverine comes in. He has claws, and an unbreakable skeleton, but that’s not his ability. His ability is to heal himself… which is WHY he is able to have the claws. Interesting isn’t it?
I even started tracing it back. In high school I never studied, just listened in class and took notes, and graduated with a 4.0. I did not study for my ACT, and made a 31. College wasn’t as glamorous in the area of grades, but I did major in Music Education, and learned a few instruments I had never played before. I also learned how to sing (in harmony) when I was young by just doing it. Even though I seemed to be destined for music, I taught myself computers (at lot was Macs) in order to get the job I have now. While at this job, I have also taught myself much about filming, video editing, and audio recording/editing. I am now even teaching myself graphic design stuff and trying to learn/improve my drawing skills (which I never thought I had). Even leaving out all the “hobbies” I have taught myself, I can clearly see how my ability to learn is why I can do all I do.
But now what does this mean? What do I do with it? If I can learn like this, and teach myself so well, what should I focus one? That’s an easy one….. whatever the heck I want!
