So if you haven’t heard already, Taylor Swift made an impromptu visit to Auburn today, and put on a very small concert, thanks to a couple guys who started the website http://www.ahugfromtaylorswift.com. Anyway, her visit made me start thinking about how so many of us “regular people” have certain celebrities that we want to meet some day. I thought about the few “famous” people I’ve met, and how those meetings have gone.
Famous person: “Hi there, what’s your name?”
Me: “Phillip. It’s a pleasure to meet you. You’re Awesome”
Famous person: “Thanks, I really appreciate all my fans.”
And that’s it. The famous person then goes on with their lives, and probably never thinks of me again, while I go on and never forget those 3 – 5 seconds. Does that really count as meeting someone though? What I want to do is to meet a “Famous” person and actually have lunch with them, or at least a decent conversation. Of the few people I have met that could be classified as celebrities, they have all simply been people, just like you and me. One day I want to sit down with some of the ones that I look up to (yes, I have a list), and actually spend some time with them, learn something from them, and maybe, just maybe, that person won’t forget my name as soon as I walk away. To me, that would actually mean something.
