So I requested this book to review quite some time ago, and am finally getting around to my review of it. The description of The Voice claims that this translation is a “faithful dynamic translation of the Scriptures done as a collage of compelling narratives, poetry, song, truth, and wisdom.” After reading through a bit of it I do think that it is definitely quite different than what most people may be used to.
The Voice reads more like a narrative than how a typical bible would. This does make it easier to read, but not necessarily easy to study. I don’t like to study with just one translation anyway, so this wouldn’t affect me too much. I do like much of the way this translation reads though.
Overall, I think this is a good version for those who have trouble keeping themselves interested in more traditional translations and those who just want to add another translation to their study list, but I probably would not keep it as my #1 study bible.
– FYI, I got this book from Booksneeze.com in exchange for my review. I was not required to be positive, and did not receive any other compensations. If you enjoy reading, and have a blog of your own, check out Booksneeze.com!
